Welcome to our Blog!

Back in the day, before Windmills, we were just two friends in love with our cameras. The more we pursued our new hobby the more excited we became at the thought of our own business. Thus began the quest for a name. To make you laugh, here are some of the names that were in the running: (note, a few of these were submitted by our "oh, so funny" family) Red Door Photography (no, not the perfume), Back Porch Photography (named after the famous salad), Creative Photos (wow, that was creative), Picture This (what are we picturing exactly?), Photo-Baggins (yes, our husbands are Lord of the Rings fanatics), and the one name that we actually call ourselves is...(drumroll please) Two Chicks and a Click!!! We know, we know, so where did Windmills come from? Well, we are both crazy about all things antique, our southern heritage, home grown veggies, and the simplicity of country living and we think the Windmill symbolizes all of these things. So now you know! Our style is fun, laid back, and real! We want you to feel at home with us and un-wind with Windmills.

One of my favorite things!!!

First, let me just start our by saying, I have NO idea why I am using song titles for all of my post titles. I am a Christmas girl to the core and I guess it is just the holidays rubbing off on me. I have been dying to put up my decorations but my husband refused to let me until after Thanksgiving so I have been doing everything possible to get in the Christmas “mood.” It really doesn’t take that much to get me there but I have a tiny confession…I have been taking a special “time-out” Christmas break a few times a week. During this little time of mine, I have been blasting Christmas music, lighting the fireplace, and drinking a big warm mug of what I call “Christmas in a cup.” I usually close all of the blinds and do this when no one is looking but now that Thanksgiving is over, throw open the windows, shout it in the streets, Christmas is coming!!! Take some time for yourself, I promise that my ”Christmas in a cup” will make you sit back and say, “mmmmmmm.”

Santa “Baby”

I have known this couple so long and have had the privilege of watching them grow and struggle and struggle and grow. As I watch them with their new baby boy I almost feel like a mama bird who is pushing its baby out of the nest so that it can fly on its own. During this shoot, I watched them soar as parents and they look like they have been doing this for years. It was so windy and absolutely freezing outside so we were trying to keep “little Santa” bundled up. I just laugh when I see his little face. What a joy he is to their life and mine. I love you guys!!!

Her father, her, and now her sweet baby boy have all come home from the hospital wrapped in this blanket. What an heirloom! Her father has passed away. I think he would love this picture!

Twas’ The Night Before Christmas

It was such an honor to be able to photograph these little cuties again. They were just as precious as they were during the fall shoot. Little bit has grown so much in just 1 month. I could have brought him home with me. They were all snuggled up in their Christmas pj’s and ready to go. Mom kept promising the oldest if he was good he could have popcorn when we left. Little did she know, I wanted to rush home and get my pj’s and lay under the tree so I could have popcorn too. Check out their sneak peek below.

Little Man “C”

We had the privilege of meeting the Hunt family a few months ago when we shot their maternity session. They are about the nicest people you will ever meet. We were so excited when they called and wanted us to photograph their new little man. I must say, he did not disappoint. He was so laid back and just the most precious little boy. They are great first time parents so it made our job so easy. Check out their sneak peek below.

Sweet Baby “C”

What a fun shoot this was. As you can see, this little cutie is so precious. Check out her head full of hair. She loved the sun and could have slept in that chair for hours. I think we have a future sunbather on our hands. These are a few of our favorites from the day.
